Big-Girl Room

For the last few weeks I've been work on and designing a big-girl room for Abby. We transitioned to a twin bed while we were in Utah (Abby was too big for the pack n' play). Ever since then she's been sleeping on a mattress on the floor. This week was when I finally got to put all of my design together. Even though I still need to get stuff for the walls I think it turned out pretty good.

It took a while to find the right color pink. I bought a few different sample paints and didn't really loving any of them. While expressing my frustration to the paint guy and Home Depot he said they have a color expert in the store who's job it is to help people find the right color. Thank goodness for that. She explain that the colors I was looking at had a grey undertone and it was killing the colors in my design. I've very happy with the color she picked out for us.

I was hoping to start and finish the room transformation all on Friday. But I didn't finish painting until 5:30pm (far later then I expected to). Needless to say we didn't want Abby sleeping in there that night. So I took her mattress into the master closet and told Abby how cool it was that she could sleep in mommy's closet. She thought it was great!

In addition to the bedroom redo we also had an impromptu pool party this week. The weather has been really nice all week long. There was one day when it was going to get really hot out. Because our friends that we usually go to the condo pool were out of town we decided to borrow grandma's inflatable pool and play at home. By the time we got the pool set up and filling with water we had almost every neighborhood kid in the water. After a while with a pretty crowded pool the bigger kids left and Abby got to play with the girl across the street (who is just a year older). The afternoon was a lot of fun but Abby said she liked it when there were no big kids in the pool.

The pink really makes the room look bigger! Do the curtains make the room dark enough? From the picture it looks like the light still comes in quite a bit. We should do wall decals in November!

Cool room! But does Abby think it is cooler than sleeping in the closet?
