We have a family budget for spending on eating out, entertainment and electronics spending. It used to be hard to stick to it but with COVID + not living near anything, it's been a lot easier than it was while in Seattle. This month, we had a surplus so we had a night of get-whatever-you-want in town. We went to a Korean restaurant (we were surprised that there even was one in a small town) that turned out to be excellent and then for dessert Debbie got a fancy-ish bread pudding at another restaurant and then, at a 3rd restaurant (drive-in) the kids got milkshakes (chocolate M&M for Abby, cherry for Alex). We were all pretty stuffed and satisfied by the end of the night. Oh, and all of this was consumed in a picnic-in-the-car style given the circumstances...
On non-rainy days we are eagerly working on our garden beds. Even though it's still at least a few months before we can plant much it feels good to be prepping.
This week included Alex's birthday. Some kids might have missed big parties but Alex likes low-key small parties anyway. He was quite ok with just a small group. He is very excited about being a year older and was talking about how monumental a year this will be, though he couldn't really put his finger on why.

Actually, the "rock surprise" cookies looked pretty good to me. Wish we could be there to enjoy them and all the other things you do.
